2020 Family Union Update

Hi dear family,

Hope this finds everyone doing well and staying healthy. These are definitely trying times but this too shall pass. Faith!

I apologize for not getting this letter out sooner.  Covid has made it difficult to get the answers and guidelines needed to make decisions for this year's reunion.

Our committee has struggled about having our reunion this year, and quite frankly, we have changed our minds a few times as the guidelines have changed.

Here is what we are planning for our reunion this year.  Yes, we will have a Shockey Family Reunion on Sunday, July 5 at 2pm in Martinsburg, WV. It will be at the War Memorial Park, Norwalk Pavillion. We will be eating and 'social distancing' socializing.  There will be no additional activities this year to avoid any unnecessary contact of any kind.  The reunion will be providing and serving cafeteria style, fried chicken, 2 sides and a desert.  If you feel comfortable and want to bring a food dish to share, please do. The reunion will also be providing plates, napkins and eating utensils. We are asking each person/family to bring their own drinks.  This will avoid touching ice, cups, etc.

Margie is organizing a golf outing on Friday, July 3.  If you are interested in golfing, she would like you to call her at 304-283-4621.

There will be no Friday night at Charles Town Races.  St. Lukes Church is not currently physically open for church, we are zooming at the present.

We understand and appreciate everyone has a different comfort level.  We all need to do what we feel is right and comfortable for us and our loved ones.  We respect each person's decision wholeheartedly.  Having said that, we look forward to seeing as many family members as possible.  For the ones that aren't able to attend this year, please mark the first Sunday in July for our reunion next year.

If you are planning on attending this year, could you give us a quick text or phone call?  Not absolutely necessary but a rough count of people will help with our food purchases. Thanks!

I'm sure there are some family members whose email may not be up to date or do not have email at all.  Would those of you who have received this, please contact those family members and give them the details about this year's reunion?

Blessings!

Love to All,

Reunion Committee: Vicki (540-336-0573), Margie (304-283-4621), Sandy (540-323-3011), Juanita (540-247-3183)
